Doncha Know? is an exuberant yet soothing collection of tunes, written by Curtis, Bonnie and Family - most of which are scripture to music.  The song roster displays the family’s unique ability to write in a variety of styles.  All seven of the Szakacs children (Heidi, Meka, Alonzo, Peter, Sunny, Amy and Davidson) are featured vocalists, alongside their parents.  Heidi, Meka, Alonzo and Peter also contribute instrumentally and through song writing.

The album was originally intended to be a “Kids CD”.  However, as recording progressed and new songs were born, it became apparent that Doncha Know? would become a fun family-oriented production.  Feedback shows it is the kids album that the whole family loves!

Children Come

During a routine visit to the vet, our 7 kids all gathered around and watched as the doctor examined our pet cat.  I marveled at this man’s patience and genuine appreciation for my children.  I marveled even more as he smiled at me a few minutes later and declared, “Children are a Heritage from the Lord!”  Those ten minutes in the vet clinic impacted me more than any book on parenting I have ever read.

Weeks later, as we neared the end of recording this album, I asked the Lord to show me His heart for the children of this generation.  A wave of inspiration hit me and this song was born.

Yet to Come

We originally wrote this to sing at our friends’ wedding.  When we brought it to the studio to record, our producer’s son Jonathan enjoyed it so much, and often sang along as we worked on it.  His enthusiasm was contagious and helped us realize the message within this song is important at all stages of life.  As we savor the present moment and commit our future to Jesus, we can anticipate that the best is yet to come.

Do Not Be Afraid

As the recording project drew to a close two songs remained unrecorded, with time enough to squeeze in only one more song.  We joked about turning the two songs into a medley, but their styles seemed too diverse to make it work.  Reluctantly, I began working out piano parts for the most likely of the two, “Do Not be Afraid”.  At about 4:00 AM the following morning, as I lay half-asleep, the Lord gave unique insight how to weave these two songs into a medley.  When completed, I told Bonnie, “even the message of each songs seems to tie together”.  Bonnie looked shocked, “Didn’t you know these two songs are based on the same passage of scripture?”  I had not known.  Both songs were written by Bonnie about two years apart.
